TULÚM, Mexico – From October 21st to 23rd, the 21st Tortuga marina Festival in the municipality of Tulum took place, marking a resounding success. This event has firmly established itself as a platform for integration and awareness regarding the vital importance of marine tortuga conservation in the region. With the theme “Working Together with the Community for Tortugas de mar,” this year’s festival brought together a diverse array of stakeholders committed to safeguarding these remarkable species.
The festival, hosted across three venues in akumal, Tulum, and Xcacel, distinguished itself with its community-centered approach. Yuritzi Espino, Manager of the Ecológico Base, one of the key organizations behind the event, expressed her enthusiasm about the festival’s outcome, stating, “We are proud to have been part of this wonderful celebration. Each year, the Sea Turtle Festival becomes a testament to our community’s dedication to protecting these special marine creatures.”
The event drew participation from various civil and governmental organizations, students, and cultural centers in the region, all coming together to create an enriching experience for attendees.
Throughout the three-day festival, visitors were treated to a wide array of cultural and recreational activities, allowing them to learn about sea tortugas while having fun.
