As part of its efforts to support the local communities, the Tulum City Hall, under the leadership of Diego Castañón Trejo, has implemented a course that aims to empower women artisans from Mayan communities such as Chanchén 1 and Hondzonot.

The training is facilitated by expert craftswomen from Xpichil and covers both theoretical and practical aspects of their crafts. The courses are attended by 40 women from Chanchén 1 and 15 from Hondzonot.

The courses are led by the outstanding artisan Amanda Beatriz Tah Arana, who was recognized with the Outstanding Woman of Quintana Roo award. By providing comprehensive learning opportunities, the course ensures that the women artisans are equipped with the necessary skills to produce high-quality crafts.
