They unveiled plans to open 17 new routes connecting to and from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), and one of these routes will take you directly to the enchanting paradise of Tulum. This significant development coincides with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s announcement that the new Tulum Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport is scheduled to open its doors in December. With these new routes in the mix, Viva Aerobus will boast an impressive network of 27 routes to and from AIFA next year. This milestone comes on the heels of Mexico regaining its coveted Category 1 status in aviation safety. In a groundbreaking move, the Mexican government announced on September 20th that Volaris, Viva Aerobus, and Aeroméxico are collectively set to open 55 new routes. This ambitious endeavor is projected to facilitate the transportation of 3.6 million passengers annually, according to Jorge Nuño, the head of Mexico’s Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT).
