Tulum Sets Its Sights on the Californian Tourist Market

TULUM, Mexico – The shimmering allure of Tulum beckons, and it’s not just the azure waters and ancient ruins that are drawing attention. Tulum, nestled in the heart of Quintana Roo, has its sights set on the golden state of California, the largest source of tourists from the United States to Mexico. In a strategic move, Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo is leading a charge to captivate the Californian market and bolster Tulum’s presence on the global stage by dispatching a delegation to the International Tourist Fair of Magical Towns, scheduled to take place from September 22nd to 24th at The Shrine Expo Hall, a sprawling venue spanning over 5,000 square meters in downtown Los Angeles.

In a concerted effort to showcase Tulum’s tourism, commerce, and artisanal offerings, the Tulum Municipal Government will occupy two prominent stands at the event. This initiative aims to amplify Tulum’s profile, solidifying its position as one of the top 5 most-visited Magical Towns in Mexico.

The municipal delegation, comprising two officials from the Directorate General of Tourism and Economy, alongside a council member, has meticulously charted a course. Their mission is to fortify Tulum’s standing both nationally and internationally as a premier tourist destination. Key factors at play include the impending launch of the Jaguar National Park, the inauguration of the Tren Maya Station, and the expansion of Tulum International Airport.

Visitors at the International Tourist Fair will be treated to a visual feast, with the opportunity to admire exquisite textile art crafted by the skilled hands of women artisans hailing from the ancient Mayan communities of Tulum. They will also have the chance to savor the Caribbean masterpiece that is Punta Allen’s coconut lobster, an epicurean delight that encapsulates the essence of the region.
