TULUM, Mexico – In a call to action, Carla Andrade Piedras, the director of the Tulum Hotel Association (AHT), has urged federal authorities to provide advance notice for closures related to the ongoing works at the Jaguar Park in this city.
With explicit reference to the impending closures by the federal government on Federal Highway 307 and the Tulum Archaeological Zone in the coming days, the hotel industry leader highlighted the severe impact on tourists. She emphasized that authorities typically notify visitors “overnight,” causing significant inconvenience.
In a brief interview, she expressed concerns that many tourists might not receive timely information about these closures, potentially leading to frustration among those planning to visit the park.
Andrade Piedras pointed out the lack of clarity regarding the fees visitors must pay for access to the park. “There’s a lot of misinformation, and that’s a topic tourists have inquired about. We understand these are federal government directives, and we have no influence there. We simply share the information we have, attempting to ease the inconvenience, as it is something that affects their stay,” she explained.
Finally, Andrade Piedras underscored the substantial impact of these closures, noting that many tourists and tour companies specifically come to Tulum to visit this park, home to one of the country’s most important archaeological sites.
