TULUM, México – Avianca, South America’s leading airline, has set its sights on Tulum, Mexico, seeking approval from the Civil Aviation Authority to inaugurate direct flights from Bogotá. This initiative marks Avianca as the first airline from South America to connect directly to the popular Mexican destination.
The proposed route between Bogotá and Tulum will operate with up to 7 weekly flights, utilizing a fleet comprising A319, A320, and A320neo aircraft. This expansion not only enhances travel accessibility but also underscores Tulum’s growing appeal as a global tourist hotspot.
In addition to the route announcement, Avianca has recently adjusted its boarding policies for international flights to align with varying immigration requirements across destinations. Passengers must purchase tickets at least 24 hours before departure to secure boarding privileges. Furthermore, travelers must possess a valid immigration status for their destination country, exempting them from the requirement to show proof of return ticket purchase. Essential travel documents must also be presented, including a valid passport and any specific entry requirements such as visas, medical insurance, or vaccination certificates.
