New Bookstore in Jaguar Park Offers Literary Adventure

TULUM, México —A newly opened Educational bookstore within the Jaguar National Park in Tulum is drawing attention with its rich collection of titles that delve into Mayan culture and Mexican archaeology. This initiative, part of a visit by Mexico’s President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, last weekend, showcases books in Spanish, English, and even Russian, making literature accessible to a broad audience.

The bookstore, operated under the aegis of Mexico’s Fondo de Cultura Económica, not only offers 1,750 titles but has an inventory of approximately 17,850 books, all priced to encourage a wide readership. Juan Pablo Hidalgo Poot, the head of the site, highlighted the bookstore’s focus on promoting knowledge about the rich local heritage and other themes relevant to both local and international visitors.

“From books on Mayan culture and fresh novels to Mexican archaeology, we offer a range of literary works. We have special sections for children’s books and affordable novel collections to ensure everyone can enjoy the pleasure of reading,” explained Hidalgo Poot.

The bookstore’s strategic location in the Jaguar National Park is complemented by newly renovated facilities designed to enhance visitor comfort and extend their stay within the park. This aligns with the broader goal of integrating educational and recreational experiences, catering to domestic and international tourists.

The simple process of acquiring books allows visitors to receive a brief introduction to their book of choice or the topic they are interested in, enriching their buying experience. The response has been overwhelmingly positive three days into the operation, with expectations of continued success.

“Our mission is to enhance the reading experience through our slogan, ‘Educal, the experience of reading,'” said Hidalgo Poot. The initiative also serves as a cultural bridge, connecting tourists to Mexico’s vast historical and cultural wealth through literature.
