Find Your Rhythm at Tulum’s Salsa and Bachata Retreat

TULUM, México – An innovative fusion of culture, passion, and dance occurs in the heart of the verdant Tulum jungle. Lisa, a former consultant and world traveler from Belgium, and Jafeth, a Colombian entrepreneur and salsa aficionado, have co-founded Baila’mor and the Tulum Social Dancing Club. Their mission is simple yet transformative: to immerse visitors in the authentic vibrancy of Latin American dance and culture.

Baila’mor isn’t just a business; it’s a burgeoning community, a family formed around the rhythmic heartbeat of Latin America. The company offers various social dance opportunities, from impromptu gatherings in local cenotes to structured retreats featuring salsa and bachata taught by some of Cali’s finest dancers.

The genesis of Baila’mor is as dynamic as the dance styles it celebrates. Lisa’s journey through Latin America introduced her to the deep-rooted dance culture that would later define her company’s ethos. “Dancing in Latin America isn’t just about the steps,” Lisa explains, “it’s about the history, the community, and a shared energy that rejuvenates the spirit.”

Jafeth grew up with salsa as a staple of life in Cali, where even grocery stores play the rhythmic beats of timbales and congas. He brings authenticity and passion to the project, and his expertise and background ensure that every dance move taught at Baila’mor carries the genuine flavor of his heritage.

Their latest venture, a dance retreat in the Tulum jungle, promises to highlight their offerings. Slated for June 23rd to 29th, this retreat aims to teach participants the steps of salsa and the cultural significance behind each move. The retreat includes lessons in Latin dance styles, such as Salsa ON1, Salsa ON2, Cali-style Salsa, Salsa Cubana, and Bachata Sensual.

Participants will also enjoy local cuisine, with collaborations from local chefs, bakeries, and mezcal brands, making it a whole sensory experience. “Imagine dancing salsa in a cenote or bachata on a pristine white sand beach,” Jafeth invites. “It’s about living the culture, not just observing it.”

Aside from fostering cultural appreciation and personal connection through dance, Baila’mor is committed to giving back to the community. The company reinvests 50% of its profits into social projects throughout Latin America, focusing on educational opportunities and economic growth.

This initiative is more than an entertainment venue; it is a cultural bridge and a beacon for sustainable tourism in Tulum. As the Tulum Social Dancing Club and Baila’mor grow, they enrich the local cultural landscape and support the broader Latin American community, making each salsa step a stride towards a more interconnected and vibrant region.
